HIFU

High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a relatively new cosmetic procedure for firming and rejuvenating the skin, which some consider a non-invasive, painless alternative to facelifts. It uses the energy of ultrasound waves to stimulate collagen production in the skin, which leads to skin tightening. It is best known for its use in the treatment of tumors. The first report of its use in beauty was in 2008. It was then approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2009 for an eyebrow lift. Also in 2014, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the device's effectiveness in removing lines and wrinkles from the upper chest and neck.
