Botox injection s are primarily known for their ability to reduce facial wrinkles. They are also used to treat diseases such as neck spasm (neck dystonia), hyperhidrosis (hyperhidrosis), overactive bladder and lazy eye. It may also help prevent chronic migraines. Botox injections use a toxin called onobotulinumtoxinA to temporarily block muscle movement. This toxin is produced by a microbe that causes botulism, a type of food poisoning. Botox was the first drug to use botulinum toxin. Other products now include Abbotulinum toxin (Dysport), Rima botulinum toxin (Myoblock) and Inco-botulinum toxin (Zeomin). Each is slightly different, especially when it comes to dosage units, so they are not interchangeable.
